Nimax Expands Point of Sale Portfolio, Adds Microsoft's Retail Software Products
Distributor Offers Microsoft Retail Management System and POS Products

SAN DIEGO, Oct 24, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Making it easier for customers to do business by providing access to complete solutions, Nimax, a division of Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM) and a leading point-of-sale (POS) and automatic identification/data capture (AIDC) channel provider, today announced the addition of Microsoft Retail Management System and Microsoft Point of Sale software solutions to its product offering.

As a division of the world's largest distributor, Nimax is the first POS-focused distribution partner with access to a comprehensive IT product catalog to offer these solutions, which delivers increased flexibility for value-added resellers (VARs) to meet their customers' needs. Nimax has actively expanded its POS offering by signing new vendors and bringing on new product lines. Microsoft Retail Management System, a solution for retailers with multiple stores, and Microsoft Point of Sale, for retailers with a single store, are the most recent additions to Nimax's POS offerings.

"Nimax's product and services offering extends a VAR's ability to offer retail solutions far beyond scanners and cash drawers," said John Soumbasakis, vice president and general manager, Nimax, North America. "Small-to-midsize retail business is a sweet spot for POS solutions, until now many of those retailers haven't had affordable POS options. Microsoft's retail software adds to our SMB portfolio, allowing our customers to have access to POS hardware, software, servers, storage, and security products all from one source."

Immediately available from Nimax, Microsoft Retail Management System and Microsoft Point of Sale give small-to-midsize retailers integrated functionality throughout their POS systems, marketing and inventory systems. Microsoft Retail Management System and Microsoft Point of Sale run on standard PCs and allow retailers to benefit from features, such as integrated debit and credit card processing, pricing controls, promotions and sales reporting, and compatibility with a variety of third-party accounting management applications.

"Our expanded relationship with Nimax introduces our retail software solutions to a new set of customers," said Mike Dickstein, director of Microsoft Point of Sale Solutions for Microsoft Business Solutions. "With Nimax's knowledgeable sales and technical support teams and in-house POS experience, it was a natural choice as an industry partner to take our software to market."
