NEC America's Fusion VAR Program Takes Off

Ingram Micro Inc. Recognizes NEC America, Inc. as Telecom 'Vendor of the Year'; First Strategic Alliance Conference to be Held in August; Amysis, Inc. Recognized as 'VAR of the Year' by NEC America

DALLAS, June 5 /PRNewswire/ -- NEC America VARs are enjoying great success with NEC's Fusion VAR Program. While only three years old, the Fusion VAR program has grown significantly. NEC's Fusion VAR program offers end-user solutions and core communications technologies to small, mid-size and large data VARs interested in the convergence technology market.

"We could not be more pleased with the success of our Fusion VAR program. Our VAR's are finding NEC products and its Fusion VAR program exactly right for today's fast-paced and demanding Telecom Solutions market," said Leslie Jantzen, national channel manager of NEC America Corporate Networks Group. "The best evidence is being named Telecom Vendor of the Year by Ingram Micro."

Ingram Micro (NYSE:IM) , the world's leading wholesale distributor, recognized NEC America as its Telecom Vendor of the Year. The criteria for this award include evaluation of vendor support of Ingram Micro and its initiatives and evaluation of programs promoting CTI technology in the telecom marketplace. Ingram Micro specifically recognized NEC America's superior solutions for both voice and data markets and their integration into convergence technology. NEC America was also cited for its "excellent and viable partnership efforts and tremendous interaction with the support of both Ingram Micro and its customers."

NEC America started its Fusion VAR program in 1995. Since then, many VARs have found the program attractive based on its simplicity, limited financial investment and strong sales and technical support. New programs aimed at helping the VARs market to their end user base will be unveiled at the first Strategic Alliance Conference for VARs, planned for August at Ingram Micro's corporate headquarters in Santa Ana, California.

"This event will be a chance for our VARs to personally tour Ingram Micro and meet the Ingram Micro and NEC America staff who have been working with them to ensure their continued success in the program. This will also be a roundtable forum for the VARs to give their input on how we can continue to improve the program to make their businesses more successful," continued Jantzen. "VARs have expressed particular interest in the new Electra Professional(R) 120 (a 40 port key system), which has been a great success."

NEC America also recognizes VARs that have become complete solutions providers, which is the essence of the Fusion VAR program. Amysis, Inc., headed by President and CEO Bryan Near, was recently presented the "VAR of the Year" award from NEC America. Amysis, located in Thornton, Colorado, dedicated a CTI specialist to the Fusion program and aggressively pursued their LAN/WAN customers with innovative marketing strategies. The result was several successful end-user bids for complete integrated telecom solutions.
