Ingram Micro Teams With Discovery Science Center to Bring Technology to Local Community
Global Distribution Giant Teams With IBM and Microsoft to Take the Lead in Donating Technology Equipment and Software to Community's Digital Lab

SANTA ANA, Calif., Oct 5, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM) is pleased to announce it has been recognized as a 'Corporate Partner' by the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana for taking the lead and securing the majority of computing equipment and software for the community's newest computer-learning center -- the Digital Lab.

"We're honored to be a part of such a rewarding community investment and would like to also recognize two of our manufacturer partners IBM and Microsoft who were at the forefront of these donations," said Kevin Murai, president, Ingram Micro Inc. "Together with the Discovery Science Center, we're bringing more than just technology to our communities -- we're offering people access to a better future and providing them the opportunity to expand their minds and increase their knowledge."

Ingram Micro and IBM split the $30,000-plus bill and donated the workstations, complete with accessories and all the "bells and whistles," as well as the server and necessary equipment to network the workstations together to the Digital Lab earlier this year. Microsoft, another one of Ingram Micro's largest and most strategic manufacturer partners, also stepped up to the plate, donating more than $6,000 worth of software for the 20-plus workstations and corresponding server.

About the Digital Lab

Opened on Sept. 28, 2004, the Digital Lab, which replaces Discovery Science Center's original computer classroom, includes 24 brand new computers with LCD display panels, all-new computer software and paid computer specialists to manage the Digital Lab and its programs. The Lab is open to the public and designed to help Orange County and surrounding county residents become more comfortable with computers and software programs.
