Leading Technology Distributor Teams With ISVs to Bring New Business Opportunities to Channel Partners

SANTA ANA, Calif., Feb. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Recognizing the growing demand for customized technology solutions, Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM), a leading technology sales, marketing and logistics company, today announced a new partnership initiative designed to team category-leading ISVs (independent software vendors) with solution provider customers and manufacturers. The initiative is the first of its kind to be announced from a broadline technology distributor.

This new partnership opportunity is available to all Ingram Micro solution providers within the United States, marking a key milestone in the company's ongoing strategy to increase the business advantages that solution provider customers gain from partnering with Ingram Micro.

"Our ISV initiative will bring a new level of technology collaboration to the channel and provide our customers and manufacturers more business opportunities within mainstream and more specialized vertical markets," said Kevin Murai, president, Ingram Micro North America. To help ensure it attracts and retains the best of the best, Ingram Micro is working with Cisco and IBM, two industry leading, channel-friendly manufacturers with established partner communities, to identify top-performing ISVs. The distributor is also working with KLAS, a research and consulting firm specializing in monitoring and reporting the performance of healthcare information technology vendors and products, and a handful of other manufacturers to identify additional ISVs that would bring its customers the most opportunity.

ISVs Gain New Business Opportunities with Channel Partners

Ingram Micro's new initiative offers an exciting growth opportunity for ISVs looking to broaden their reach and expand their business model. In addition to fostering new alliances, ISVs also can take advantage of Ingram Micro's marketing, sales and technical support capabilities. These services help ISVs develop unique go-to-market strategies that maximize their reach within the technology distribution channel.

Under the terms of the partnership, ISVs can work with Ingram Micro in one of two ways -- either through a referral model or licensing distribution. In the referral model, Ingram Micro identifies and teams qualified resellers with the ISV solution partner. The ISV then sells their application to the reseller at a predefined discount, and the ISV pays Ingram Micro a referral fee. In the licensing distribution model, the ISV's application is sold through Ingram Micro's traditional licensing process. In the licensing model, the ISVs professional services are offered through Ingram Micro's Service Network organization.
