Ingram Micro Signs Distribution Agreement With MGE UPS Systems

Company Will Distribute MGE's Broad Range of Uninterruptible Power Supplies

SANTA ANA, Calif., July 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE:IM) the world's leading wholesale distributor of technology products and services, and MGE UPS Systems, Inc., manufacturer of the broadest range of uninterruptible power supplies in the industry, have signed an agreement that will make MGE's powerful, compact UPS Systems available through the Ingram Micro distribution channel.

Under the terms of the agreement, Ingram Micro will sell the MGE Pulsar UPS product line through its traditional reseller channel, and also through the Ingram Micro's recently launched Internet-based Electronic Catalog at http://www.ingram.com/.

MGE's single-phase UPS line offers some of the most powerful and cost-effective power protection systems for the desktop, workstation and server markets. Ingram-Micro is initially carrying the MGE Pulsar ES and ESV product lines, and in July 1997 will begin carrying MGE's newly announced Pulsar EL and ES+ series uninterruptible power supplies.

"We are pleased that our ground-breaking UPS Systems will be distributed to an even wider audience through the Ingram Micro channnel," stated Loren Stone, vice president of MGE. "We are looking forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with Ingram Micro."

The MGE Pulsar EL and ES+ UPS systems bring affordable power protection to the entry-level and small business markets. With powerful features, suggested retail prices starting at just $129.00, and an attractive, slim-line design that is only 1.8" wide, the Pulsar EL and ES+ series UPS products provide the ideal protection against power surges, interruptions and outages. The smart battery management technology gives these new systems longer back-up, fast recharge, increased battery life, automatic battery testing, and deep discharge protection.

The low power models use advanced, high frequency technology that MGE has packaged in a dark gray, slim-line design that is half the size and weight of competitive systems. The slim-line Pulsar EL and ES+ units weigh in at only 9 pounds and have dimensions of 1.8"W x 11.2"H x 11.4"D -- approximately the size of a standard three-ring binder. These models provide power protection for desktop PCs, workstations, active network devices and entry-level servers and can be configured for tower, under-monitor, wall-mount or rack-mount installation.

The higher power Pulsar EL and ES+ units are also attractively designed in a compact, dark gray package that weighs 29-34 pounds, and are slightly larger than the slim-line models. These units are ideal for high-end workstations, network servers and multi-server environments.

Ingram Micro Inc., headquartered in Santa Ana, Calif., is the world's largest wholesale distributor of microcomputer products, with 1996 sales of $12 billion. The company operates in 19 countries and distributes more than 36,000 products to over 100,000 resellers in 120 countries.

MGE UPS Systems, a $400 million UPS manufacturer, provides a complete line of power management tools and solutions. Headquartered in Costa Mesa, California, MGE has achieved worldwide recognition for its Merlin Gerin, Square D and Topaz brand uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and power conditioner products for a wide range of applications -- from power protection for standalone PCs and PC networks to entire facilities.
