, the world's leading wholesale distributor of technology products and services, today announced that it received authorization from the Baan Company to pre-configure Baan software on Compaq and Hewlett-Packard computer systems throughout North America. Earlier this year Baan authorized the distributor to pre-configure Baan software onto Sun Microsystems hardware. The expanded Baan authorization enables Ingram Micro to help a broader range of resellers implement enterprise software by providing pre-configured and pre-tested solutions.

Baan software is distributed through Ingram Micro's Advanced Software Division (ASD), which was launched this year. The ASD provides resellers with the sales, business development, configuration and technical support they need to sell and install software applications to the small- and midsize-enterprise market. The ASD is committed to working with resellers to enable them to be successful in the enterprise market.

The distributor assembles Compaq and HP systems at its half-million-square-foot Memphis, Tenn. facility. Ingram Micro's added capability of pre-configuring Baan enterprise resource planning software onto Microsoft NT-compatible systems is a value-add for these systems vendors.
