Ingram Micro Promotes Murai, Spierkel as Presidents;

Creates Office of the Chairman

SANTA ANA, Calif., March 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM) today announced the promotion of both Gregory Spierkel and Kevin Murai to corporate president, reporting to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Kent B. Foster.

The presidents, who assume their new duties today, are jointly responsible for the overall operating performance of the company. In addition to their company-wide responsibilities, Murai will focus on the North American and Latin American regions, while Spierkel will focus on the European and Asia- Pacific regions. Previously, Murai and Spierkel were presidents of the North American and European regions, respectively.

They will join Foster, as well as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Thomas A. Madden, in a newly formed Office of the Chairman. Led by Foster, the Office of the Chairman is responsible for driving corporate policies, strategies and profitable growth initiatives.

"A strong, stable management team is the keystone of our future," said Foster. "The company is fortunate to have high-caliber executives like Tom, Greg and Kevin who are outstanding leaders. In the Office of the Chairman, we will focus on taking our company to a new level, capturing opportunities that will ensure our long-term success."

Foster added: "Greg and Kevin have demonstrated outstanding business acumen and operations expertise in their roles as regional presidents. Kevin has been with the company for more than 15 years, leading the Canadian and U.S. regions before the two countries were combined to form the North American region in January of 2002. In addition to his regional responsibilities, he led our successful profit-enhancement program, which was completed ahead of schedule, within budget and generated savings above target. Greg joined the company seven years ago as president of the Asia-Pacific region before moving to Europe in 1999. Under his leadership, the European region successfully integrated a major acquisition in Germany, consolidated operations in the Nordic countries and instituted processes that will have a lasting, positive impact on the region. His skillful management transformed the region into a best-in-class performer, delivering sales and operating margins at historic highs."

Spierkel's prior position was filled by Hans Koppen, who was named president of Ingram Micro Europe after nearly four years as president of the Asia-Pacific region. Koppen joined Ingram Micro in January 1998 as president of the Latin American region. Alain Monie, who joined the company as Executive Vice President in January 2003, was appointed president of the Asia- Pacific region in January 2004. Asger Falstrup will remain president of the Latin American region.

As announced separately today, Michael J. Grainger, president and chief operating officer, has retired from the company.

"I'm looking forward to this new era in the history of the company," said Foster. "I'm proud we have a team with a proven track record of delivering on its promises and generating solid results. Together, I'm confident we will take Ingram Micro to new heights."
