After evaluating the capabilities of several distributors, Microsoft selected Ingram Micro based on the company's established track record servicing value added resellers (VAR) and proven experience distributing Microsoft products.  Microsoft also recognized the power of Ingram Micro's established VAR communities such as Ingram Micro VentureTech Network (VTN) and Ingram Micro SMB Alliance to deliver high-quality service to SMBs and financial vertical markets.

By teaming with Ingram Micro and selling Small Business Manager 6.2 through the IT channel, Microsoft can better serve customers in the SMB marketplace, said Dave Waldrop, channel sales manager for the Microsoft Great Plains Business Solutions Division.  With the strength of Ingram Micro's flexible business resources, supply chain efficiencies and unparalleled VAR communities, we can meet our aggressive sales goals while streamlining operations and minimizing costs.

As part of its line-up of value-added services and solutions, Ingram Micro will offer training, technical support, lead-generation programs and financing options tailored to VARs.  Ingram Micro also will deliver flexible financing and product fulfillment options to Microsoft Consulting partners.

Ingram Micro and Microsoft Great Plains Business Solutions will bring new and profitable sales opportunities to our VTN and SMB Alliance members, said Bob Stegner, vice president, channel and U.S. marketing, Ingram Micro.  We're thrilled to be chosen by Microsoft for this offer and appreciate the ability to continue giving VARs the software solutions and services they need to quench the demands of today's SMBs and increase relationships with accountants and financial advisors.
