Ingram Micro Hosts Charity Golf Tournament and Wine Tasting Event to Support Local Community

IT Business Leader Continues Tradition of Giving Back

IRVINE, Calif. – Oct. 25, 2017 – On Saturday, October 28, Ingram Micro Inc. will host its 24th Annual West Coast Charity Golf Tournament and Wine Tasting event at Pelican Hill Golf Club in Newport Beach, Calif. The annual fundraising event, organized by the philanthropic committee in the company’s Irvine headquarters, is expected to raise more than $150,000 to benefit four local charities:

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County whose mission is to provide strong and enduring, one-to-one, professionally supported mentoring relationships for every child who needs and wants one.

  • Build Futures whose mission and purpose is to take homeless youth ages 18 to 24 off the streets of Orange County, and provide stable, safe housing, mentoring, and the services, resources and support needed to obtain and maintain employment and long-term independence.

  • Down Syndrome Association of Orange County whose mission is to create a place for connection, information and hope for people with Down syndrome and their families throughout greater Orange County, promote Down syndrome awareness and offer programs, services and support that aim to empower individuals with Down syndrome to reach their full potential.

  • Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation whose mission has stayed true over the course of time: to improve the care, quality of life and survival rates of children with malignant diseases.

“Giving back to the community continues to be a priority at Ingram Micro. Our annual golf tournament and wine tasting event is a fun and interactive way for our associates and partners to make a positive difference in the lives of others,” said Tim Ament, senior vice president, Advanced Solutions for Ingram Micro and the executive sponsor for the charity event.

This year's event will include more than 130 golfers and is made possible by a team of 30-plus volunteers. The event is also supported by five major sponsors — Cisco, Dell/EMC, Deloitte, Lenovo and Samsung — and more than 40 others. In conjunction with the golf tournament, a wine and cooking demo event will be held that day from 9:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. as an option for those who may not be golfers and want to support this philanthropic effort. This year’s wine and cooking event is hosted by Chef Laurent Brazier, Executive Chef and Sommelier at La Cuisine Culinary Arts.

“For 24 years, this event has been made possible with the support of our associates, vendor partners and community,” Ament continued. “With their help, we've been able to make a positive impact in the community in which we work and live by donating more than $1.3 million, extending our commitment to Orange County well beyond the doors of our office.”
