Technology Distributor Recognized for more than 10 Years of Ongoing Support to Organization
BUFFALO, NY – March 27, 2017 – Ingram Micro Inc. announced today it has earned Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara’s 2017 Business Award.
The company’s Buffalo, N.Y. campus was recognized during the nonprofit’s annual Heroes of Niagara dinner held last month at The Rapids Theater. The awards paid tribute to four community heroes, both individuals and businesses, who made significant contributions through their efforts, deeds and generosity to make Niagara County and Western New York a better place to live and work.
For more than 10 years, Ingram Micro’s philanthropic committee has supported Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara, a nonprofit that provides innovative, results-oriented and high quality services to people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities and their families. As a recipient of this year’s Business Award, Ingram Micro is recognized for its continuous support of Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara’s horticulture therapy program – the Niagara Floral Center and Greenhouse.
Donations and funding from Ingram Micro associates, corporate giving programs and its annual corporate golf tournament were used to expand the horticulture therapy program to a greater number of individuals and also help support the purchase of a greenhouse delivery van to help get more products out in the community. The committee also provided technology and supplies for the greenhouse as the organization plans a hydroponic garden – merging technology, horticulture therapy and vocational programming.
Adding to its philanthropic effort, many Ingram Micro employees have participated in the agency’s annual “Adopt-a-Family” Holiday program in past years, providing gifts to low-income families served by the organization’s Exceptional Parenting and Community Habilitation programs.
