Ingram Micro Helps Solution Providers Gain Access to Growing Stable of Top Independent Software Vendors (ISV)
Distributor Relationship With ISVs Provides VARs an Entree Into New and Niche Markets

SANTA ANA, Calif., June 6, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Ingram Micro (NYSE: IM), a global leader in technology sales, marketing and logistics, today announced the expansion of its independent software vendor (ISV) program, which allows solution providers in the United States to meet the customized application needs of end-users in new and niche markets.

Unique in the distribution channel, Ingram Micro's ISV program brings together specialized software partners, solution providers, world-class manufacturers (Cisco, IBM, Fujitsu and more) and Ingram Micro services to design, implement and maintain solutions for vertical markets and specialized solutions. These markets include healthcare, document management, business continuity and the rapidly growing number of business uses for IP telephony.

"As one of the first vendors tapped for Ingram Micro's ISV program, we've seen a tremendous impact on our SMB channel sales and marketing efforts," said Andre Pavlovic, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Questys Solutions Inc. "Teamed with Ingram Micro, we've gained valuable resources, established new vendor partnerships and successfully developed and launched our indirect sales model. In addition, Ingram Micro marketing helped us establish and debut our Questys ProAlliance reseller program which is growing daily with qualified solution providers."

Through the program, solution providers can access applications, expertise and services that allow them to pursue deals that include software or custom solutions that lay beyond the VAR's traditional services. Resellers can expand into new markets, grow their business with existing clients and gain incremental revenue by delivering better and more specialized solutions to end users.

"ISVs are critical to helping solution providers identify the best-in-class applications and deliver more complete solutions to the end-user customer," said Justin Crotty, vice president, channel marketing, North America. "Ingram Micro continues to lead broadline tech distribution in investing in channel sales strategies and marketing programs for ISVs. We're continuing to do business differently, bringing our customers and manufacturers marketing, sales and partnership opportunities that will generate growth and sales."

Program Details

With Ingram Micro identifying and qualifying ISVs, VARs are freed up to focus on selling solutions. All rates are pre-negotiated with each ISV by Ingram Micro, so there's no haggling on the backend. Resellers can earn up to 15-percent commission on ISV applications. To take advantage of the program, solution providers can follow the normal sales procedure: identify the end user's pain points and design the best solution - but now they have the option to include an ISV's application and/or services on their own proposal and invoice.

Ingram Micro is offering access to ISV partners in two ways. One is similar to a traditional licensing agreement in that resellers purchase a software license for the application that can be ordered via a SKU in Ingram Micro's system. The other way is a referral process where the solution provider is matched up with the appropriate ISV. The reseller and ISV team up to implement the specialized application into the end user's solution.

The list of participating ISVs is continually evaluated and Ingram Micro is always on the lookout for new partners. Ingram Micro partners with many world-class vendors such as IBM, HP, Cisco and Microsoft to identify the best- in-class solutions that allow solution providers to increase their hardware sales, and service and training revenue. The current list includes the following ISVs (in alphabetical order):
