Ingram Micro Expands Recruitment of Student-Veterans

Leading Technology Distributor Strives to Increase Veteran Hiring, Extending Current
Veteran Success at the Buffalo Campus

Buffalo, NY, July 19, 2012 — As part of ongoing efforts to recruit and retain the best possible employees, worldwide technology distributor Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM) recently hosted the veteran coordinators and career services representatives from several local universities during an informational luncheon with its human resources team at its Williamsville campus.  In attendance were representatives from the University of Buffalo, Niagara University, Canisius College and Buffalo State College.

The event was geared to familiarize the college and veteran representatives about Ingram Micro and reinforce the need for even tighter relationships between the distributor’s human resources managers and with these local schools’ career services offices.  As part of a developing North American recruiting strategy, this luncheon also served to familiarize the college representatives with the corporate culture of Ingram Micro, and demonstrate the focus on establishing a healthy veteran-friendly environment at the company.

“We already do a great job collaborating with our local college offices to recruit their top students for internships, as well as part-time and full-time employment, and we’re dedicated to continuing those efforts to keep the best and brightest here in the western New York region,” commented Tom Bamrick, executive director of global sales for Ingram Micro, who oversees operations at the Buffalo campus and also attended the luncheon. “However, we’d like to increase our awareness of the needs of student-veterans and improve our approach to recruiting those veterans from these colleges.  We have a solid group of veterans on staff here in Buffalo, all of whom perform exceedingly well.  Enhancing that percentage can only help all of us succeed.”

Joining Bamrick at the event were Ingram Micro’s Jeff Streb, senior director of human resources; Kim Brostko, a human resources supervisor; and Howard Hein, senior manager and 25-year veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Ingram Micro is currently expanding its workforce in Buffalo and will continue to host events like this in the future to build on its ability to recruit and retain the best possible employees.
