Ingram Micro Donates Cash, Equipment and Executive “Elbow Grease” to Renovate Employment Facility at Transitional Living Shelter

Leading technology distributor's executives don overalls to assist in the renovation of WISEPlace's resource center, helping women gain self-sufficiency

SANTA ANA, Calif., June 28, 2006 - Ingram Micro, Inc. (NYSE: IM), the world's largest technology distributor, today announced the official unveiling of the newly remodeled resource center at WISEPlace, an Orange County women's shelter the distributor helped renovate as part of its ongoing community relations efforts.

Effective today, the center will be named the "Ingram Micro Resource Center" and will be used by the women living in WISEPlace to aid them in their job search. The goal of all programs at WISEPlace is to assist homeless women become financially independent, start fresh and move forward with their lives despite their past hardships."

Thanks to Ingram Micro, WISEPlace residents will now have access seven days a week to a well-equipped resource facility as well as Element K, an internet-based learning and development program - tools essential to help them rebuild their lives," said Kathleen Davis Bowman, executive director of WISEPlace. "Especially memorable to us is the fact that Ingram Micro's CEO Greg Spierkel, CFO Bill Humes and president and COO Kevin Murai participated personally in this renovation project by actually taking the time to paint the resource center."

To create a distinct and upbeat ambiance, Ingram Micro donated and installed new carpeting, light fixtures, closet shelves and door, furniture, work stations, computer hardware and inspirational décor. Additionally, the team demolished the previous interior, repaired existing lighting fixtures, patched the concrete walls and painted them a brighter color.

Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido and his wife Laura Saari-Pulido presided over the event, along with Ingram Micro North America President Keith Bradley, and cut the ribbon to open the center. As a reporter for the Orange County Register, Saari-Pulido has made a significant impact on the community through her "Motel Children" and other articles in 1998 that helped raise awareness and substantial donations to alleviate the poverty that exists in Orange County. In the 1980s, in order to publicize the need for a shelter such as WISEPlace, she posed as a homeless woman and lived on the streets of Santa Ana for a week.

"WISEPlace is committed to a very noble cause and we're thrilled to be able to contribute," said Greg Spierkel, chief executive officer of Ingram Micro. "It was both fulfilling and fun for our managerial team to be a part of this project." In recognition of its contribution to WISEPlace, Ingram Micro received a Community Excellence Award earlier this month at the United Way Orange County Community Excellence Recognition Breakfast. The Ingram Micro community relations and facilities teams collaborated for more than three months with several business units to plan, coordinate and implement the renovation project at the 55-year-old WISEPlace building. Additionally, leading Ingram Micro vendors such as Dynalectric, Inc., Element K, T.A.G. Painting and space planner Sandi Gengler contributed labor, time and materials to help make this project possible.

With more than 80 years of history in the care of women, children and families in Orange County, WISEPlace today assists 75 formerly homeless women every year to help them obtain full-time jobs, and safe and affordable housing.
