SANTA ANA, Calif., May 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE:IM) , the largest global wholesale provider of technology products and supply chain management services, today announced the expansion of its enterprise offering. Ingram Micro now offers IBM's latest Intel-based server, the x440, part of the eServer xSeries line of servers. "Ingram Micro gives solution providers the flexibility of a wider range of platforms and products to take to market. Our enterprise strategy and business model minimize barriers that may discourage customers from this potentially lucrative market," said Sally Stanton, vice president and general manager, emerging technologies, Ingram Micro North America. "Over the past six years, Ingram Micro has built its enterprise consulting business with experienced and highly-skilled associates to support customers and manufacturers in this important segment."

IBM's latest Intel-based server, the x440, was launched in March and combines Intel's new Xeon(TM) processor with IBM's exclusive Enterprise X-Architecture(TM) technology, a chipset that manages a number of internal operations and features capabilities typically found only in mainframes. Aimed at e-businesses providing a platform for both server consolidation and large, single-system applications, the x440 is an affordable alternative for Windows(TM) 2000/NT, Linux, Novell and other operating system environments. Unlike other enterprise-class servers, it features an expansion capability that allows users to increase their configurations as business requirements change.

IBM's xSeries servers are on display at Ingram Micro's Solution Center, a multifunctional development, testing and training lab for U.S. technology enterprise solution providers and vendor partners.
