Founding Asia Pacific President Retires, Ingram Micro Appoints New Leadership

     Ingram Micro Celebrates 15 Years of Service for Lai-Fuan Foo As
                     Asia Pacific Founding President;
Company Appoints Hans T. Koppen as President of Ingram Micro Asia Pacific,
     Promotes Donald Lyman to President of Ingram Micro Latin America

SANTA ANA, Calif., March 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE:IM) , the world's largest wholesale provider of technology products and services, today announced the appointment of Hans T. Koppen as president of Ingram Micro Asia Pacific and Donald Lyman as president of Ingram Micro Latin America, upon the retirement of Lai-Fuan Foo, founding president of Ingram Micro Asia Pacific.

Foo retires from Ingram Micro after building the Asia Pacific business from the ground up to more than $1.5 billion in sales in 1999. Prior to serving as president of the Asia Pacific region, he was the managing director of Singapore-based Electronic Resources Limited (ERL), a company he co-founded in 1985. Under his leadership, ERL grew aggressively to other Asian countries, Australia and New Zealand, and was upgraded to the Main Board of the Stock Exchange in Singapore in 1997. Foo was instrumental in Ingram Micro's completing the acquisition of ERL in 1999, after its initial equity investment in 1997.

"Mr. Foo built ERL into one of the largest and most profitable distributors in the Asia Pacific region," said Jerre L. Stead, chairman and chief executive officer of Ingram Micro. "We greatly value the contributions he has made to Ingram Micro's growth and presence in the region."

Koppen, senior vice president of Ingram Micro and formerly president of Ingram Micro Latin America, takes over the Asia Pacific region as president. Lyman, formerly responsible for Ingram Micro's Latin America Export Division, will move into the president's position in Latin America and also will become senior vice president of Ingram Micro.

"These two men bring solid records, a wealth of professional experience and the critical leadership skills that will continue to build on our successes in these rapidly expanding regions," Stead said. "Hans and Don are both international leaders with global perspectives, substantial technology industry experience and proven track records at Ingram Micro."

Koppen, 57, joined Ingram Micro in 1998 from General Electric Capital Information Technology Solutions, where he served as president, Latin America. Prior to GE Capital, Koppen had a 24-year career with Control Data Corp., serving in management positions in Belgium, Mexico, the Netherlands, United Kingdom and United States. During his tenure with Ingram Micro Latin America, the company has become the leading provider of IT products and services with a significantly expanded presence in the region. Koppen was instrumental in establishing a subsidiary in Argentina, as well as in integrating a major acquisition in South America, which was one of the most successful in the company's history. In this tough economic and business environment, Ingram Micro Latin America significantly improved profitability in 1999 under his leadership.

Lyman, 53, will take over for Koppen as president of Ingram Micro Latin America. He joined the company in the fall of 1999 after a 15-year career with IBM in Latin America where he held positions in sales, marketing, government relations and management. Prior to joining IBM, Lyman was a career foreign service officer and a presidential appointee. In his previous post with Ingram Micro's Latin America Export Division, Lyman's leadership has improved operating results by strengthening its management team, growing revenue and improving gross margins.
