Connex and Ingram Micro Ink Deal to Distribute Comprehensive Line of Storage Solutions

Connex Extends its Reach by Linking Up with the World's Largest Technology Products and Services Distributor

SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Connex, a Western Digital company (NYSE:WDC) and developer of storage area network (SAN) and network-attached storage (NAS) solutions, today announced it has entered into a distribution agreement with Ingram Micro (NYSE:IM) , the world's largest wholesale provider of technology products and services. Connex will supply Ingram Micro with its innovative line of storage hardware and software systems, including the newly released Connex N3000(TM) NAS system.

According to a recent IDC Server Workload Study, the NAS market is forecasted to grow from $854 million in 1999 to more than $6.5 billion in 2003. This distribution agreement marks Connex's latest move towards capturing the exploding market for interoperable storage solutions.

"We are fully committed to the distribution channel, and Ingram Micro's size gives Connex access to the largest reseller base available as well as the ability to branch into virtually all reseller markets," said Mark Pollard, Connex's vice president of sales. "Both companies share the goal of providing new, high-availability storage solutions that enable our channel partners to offer best-of-breed networked storage systems to their customers."

"The need for highly available and easy-to-manage storage systems has created a tremendous business opportunity," said Thad Bennett, director of mass storage of Ingram Micro. "Our partnership with Connex will enable us to better meet our reseller customers' demand for storage systems that are easy to deploy, manage and operate."

The increase in information flowing through organizations has created a strain on many local area networks. This problem is further compounded by data intensive applications and the need to share information across workgroups and the enterprise. According to Pollard, "The partnership between Ingram Micro and Connex will offer companies new storage systems that are simple to implement and manage, while allowing for future expansion."
