Leading Internet Retailer Expands Its Relationship With New Ingram Micro Division

SANTA ANA, Calif., June 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE:IM) , the world's largest wholesale provider of technology products and services, today announced its new end-to-end logistics services division, IM-Logistics, will provide order management, logistics and transportation management for consumer electronics products sold through buy.com (NASDAQ:BUYX) .

Ingram Micro currently handles virtually all of the orders placed with buy.com for computers and computer-related products. IM-Logistics will now provide fee-based, end-to-end logistics services to support the offering of buy.com's consumer electronics products, such as televisions, stereos, video equipment and a range of other related products sold by the leading Internet retailer.

"We value Ingram Micro as a partner and are pleased to expand the relationship with the new division of IM-Logistics for our consumer electronics products," said Greg Hawkins, chief executive officer, buy.com. "Our customers' experience is critical to our success, and we have enjoyed excellent results from Ingram Micro with timely and accurate delivery of our computer products. IM-Logistics' flexible service offering allows us to get the support we need to provide a rewarding customer experience through seamless back room operations."

Departing from Ingram Micro's traditional distribution model, IM-Logistics provides end-to-end logistics services to manufacturers, e-tailers and brick-and-mortar retailers selling online, expanding the company's service offering to increase the customer satisfaction and performance of IT and non-IT related e-businesses seeking a better logistics solution. The division will initially cater to providers of software, IT hardware, and consumer electronics, and ultimately serve consumer goods and other product categories that can be handled by the company's broad network of U.S. distribution centers.

For Internet retailers working to establish critical e-commerce logistics infrastructures, IM-Logistics provides services including customer care, IT system support, warehousing and value-added services, transportation management, reverse logistics and customized business services on a for-fee basis. IM-Logistics offers its customers a greater than 99.9 percent accuracy for all shipments, and same-day shipping of all orders received prior to 5 p.m. As part of its logistics services for buy.com, IM-Logistics deploys a direct e-commerce connection through InsideLine(TM) for seamless order management. This direct connection enables immediate access to Ingram Micro's U.S. network of seven strategically placed distribution centers allowing one- or two-day ground coverage to more than 98 percent of businesses and households in the U.S.

"We are pleased to have buy.com as a new customer of IM-Logistics," said Kevin Murai, president, Ingram Micro U.S. "With a proven and reliable track record for order management and logistics in the IT market, we believe IM-Logistics is poised to provide Internet retailers like buy.com with a fulfillment engine that will help to increase customer satisfaction and smooth operations."
