BAX Global Awarded Ingram Micro's Frameworks Air Freight Import Business

IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Ingram Micro's Frameworks, Total Integration Services group has named BAX Global as a preferred heavyweight air freight importer.

The agreement calls for BAX Global to handle heavyweight import shipments from Asian manufacturers, mainly in China and Taiwan, for delivery to Ingram Micro's Frameworks facilities.

Frameworks, Total Integration Services is Ingram Micro's worldwide computer channel assembly and computer configuration initiative. The "initiative," one of four the company is undertaking worldwide, is committed to delivering customized, fully-tested computer systems to resellers for their customers' specific computer hardware or software needs.

Ingram Micro launched Frameworks in July 1997 in an effort to offer enhanced computer integration services in support of Acer, Compaq, Digital, HP, IBM and other major brands. Frameworks' "configuration centers" build computers from components supplied by its various partner manufacturers and delivers systems, whether laptops or workstations, to end-users. Ingram Micro is the world's leading wholesale distributor of technology products and services.

"Ingram Micro selected BAX because of our expertise in global heavyweight logistics, our experience with handling technology products, our consistent service, integrated fleet, on-time service and competitive pricing," said Eileen Lay, BAX Global National Account Manager.

"We are pleased to be partnering with BAX for our global Frameworks initiatives in Asia," said Tom Wright, Ingram Micro's vice president of logistics and transportation. "Our customers depend on us for quick service with minimal turnaround time. We are looking forward to working together in this critical area of our business," Wright added.

Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE:IM) , headquartered in Santa Ana, Calif., is the leader in wholesale distribution of technology products and services, and is a leading provider of assembly and integration services, with 1997 sales of more than $16.5 billion.
